British expats have until Monday to register to vote

DUBAI // British expatriates have until Monday to register to vote in the UK’s General Election next month.

According to the official website of the British Government, non-resident Britons who have a permanent address in the UK are eligible to vote.

“The deadline to register to vote in the general elections in 20 April 2015,” said the website.

To register to vote Britons must update their details on the electoral register.

Only those who are on the electoral register are eligible to vote.

Expats are also urged to provide details of their National Insurance number if they have one. For more details visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

Postal votes have a deadline of April 21.
