A new British ambassador will take up his post in Abu Dhabi this month.

Patrick Moody replaces Philip Parham, who has been appointed UK Envoy to the Commonwealth.

Mr Moody, who is married with two children, was most recently additional director of the Asia-Pacific directorate in the UK Foreign Office.

He has a diplomatic background in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and was deputy high commissioner in Islamabad from 2014 to 2017.

In the UK, Mr Moody was a past head of the border security unit, and head of the money laundering and financial crime team in 1997.
