SHARJAH // A boy, aged 4, was hit and killed by a police vehicle carrying Ramadan cannons on Monday night.
Preliminary reports show the boy was standing unattended among parked cars along the Sharjah Buhairah Corniche about 6pm.
He darted on to the road and was hit by the police vehicle, police said.
Ambulance and rescue workers were called but the boy had already died.
The police vehicle was carrying the cannons that are fired to signal the end of the day's fast at Al Qasba.
A police spokesman warned parents to be careful not to leave their children unattended near roads.
