DUBAI // Police have confirmed that the body found in Oman near the UAE border is not that of Nasser Ali Nasser, the 21-year-old Emirati who went missing last month.

"The body found in Oman is not of the missing boy," Brigadier Khalil Al Mansouri, head of CID at Dubai Police, said yesterday. "The search for Nasser continues."

Police initially announced that the body, found early on Monday, was that of Mr Nasser, a diabetic who left his family home in Rashidiya on October 27 to go on a road trip with three friends but did not return.

However, investigations have proved the dead man was not Mr Nasser, though UAE police would not disclose any other information.

"The investigation into the circumstances of the other death is with Omani authorities," said Brig Al Mansouri.

Police are continuing to question three men who were travelling with Mr Nasser to the desert in an emirate neighbouring Dubai.

Anyone with information can call Dubai Police on 04 609 5555 or Rashidiya police station on 04 285 3000.
