Civil Defence crews tackled a major blaze that swept a factory in the latest in a series of fires in Sharjah’s sprawling industrial estate.
The fire broke out in a building believed to process oil and diesel in Sharjah Industrial Area 10.
Eyewitnesses on social media described plumes of smoke billowing from the site on Friday at about 7am.
Sharjah Civil Defence brought the fire under control but are yet to comment on the cause.
On Wednesday night, crews tackled a fire at the Eiffel plant, also in Zone 10, that cascaded across a nearby motorway and took hours to bring under control.
Fire engines with automatic water cannons manoeuvred close to two silo tanks that were ablaze and dowsed the flame.
The fire that night, which was close to the border with Dubai and Dubai International Airport, is near the site of a third incident on Monday that destroyed a dozen warehouses.
