ABU DHABI // The benefits of bedtime stories were explained to parents at a workshop in the capital last week.
The Bedtime Stories workshop was part of an Abu Dhabi Reads initiative and encouraged more UAE mothers to read to their children before they go to sleep. Psychological studies have shown that children who read tend to perform better academically.
Aya Mustafa, a librarian at the Future Generations library, said the workshop focused on building a strong relationship between mothers and children in a "fun, exciting, beneficial and positive way that will enhance a child's capability to read while encouraging the child to listen better, exchange experiences and stories and understand meanings and content".
