DUBAI // Residents are being warned to be on their guard against a gang of robbers who try to gain access to their homes by claiming to work for utilities companies.
The gang of four are said to call at people’s homes by pretending to work for Dewa, Sewa or Eskom and ask for access under the pretence of installing shower cap to save water or changing light bulbs for free.
However, once in the home they rob the owners at gunpoint.
The warning, issued by the Dubai government, said the gang had been spotted in several areas.
Residents are advised to contact the police if they come into contact with the gang.
