Prosecutors have failed in their appeal to increase the sentence of a delivery worker jailed for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.
Lawyers argued the six-month term was too lenient and should be increased.
The Pakistani defendant, 35, was convicted at Dubai Criminal Court in September following the attack in June.
The incident happened after the girl was sent home by her private maths tutor to collect homework.
The defendant spotted her walking into a lift her where he then touched her inappropriately.
“She had forgotten some papers so I asked her to return to her family’s flat in the next building to pick them up,” the Indian private teacher told the court.
“She was terrified when she came back. I asked her why and she told me what happened.”
Appearing at trial, the man denied sexually assaulting his victim but was found guilty. He was ordered to be deported after serving his term.
