AL AIN // Municipality workers have finished their clean-up operation in the aftermath of last week’s storm.
All floodwater has been drained and all uprooted trees and fallen debris has been removed, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister newspaper of The National.
The emergency team responded to more than 11,000 calls during and after the storm, said Saeed Al Kaabi, head of the unit.
The underpasses in the city were equipped with sensors to indicate water levels and were monitored around the clock by security cameras, said Mr Al Kaabi. As a result, the situation was closely monitored and roads were temporarily closed when needed.
Mr Al Kaabi said Al Ain’s drainage system, consisting of 76,000 manholes, had managed to disperse the pools of water that formed during the storm.
