ABU DHABI // Elderly residents of Al Ain and those with special needs will now be able to get police paperwork done from the comfort of their own home.

The new service, launched yesterday, means Emiratis and expatriates with mobility problems can call any Al Ain Police department or operations room to request help or report a crime, said Brig Hamad Ajlan Al Amimi, the director of the Al Ain Police Directorate.

Police staff members and judicial officers will be sent to the callers' homes, reported the state news agency Wam.

"This step comes in line with the Hope Plant initiative implemented as per the instructions of Lt Gen Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to provide humanitarian services to all segments of society," said Maj Gen Mohammed Al Menhali, the director general of police operations at Abu Dhabi Police.
