AJMAN // Ten young people of different nationalities, religions and ages have joined together to promote the concept of teamwork and volunteering.
Called Mubadara, in reference to a belief that youth initiatives have a great impact on society, the group stages educational workshops, sporting events and social and charitable activities.
Ekram Thiab, a founding member of the Mubadara board that was established in 2012, said the primary goal of their activities was to get young people accustomed to doing beneficial things during their leisure time.
“We make a good impact on society, such as educational and training workshops for university and [primary] school students, sending donations to orphans, visiting elderly, activities for deaf and disabled people and celebrating special occasions.”
The Jordanian said that the group does not raise money, instead it asks interested authorities to sponsor their events and seeks donations for events such as its Eid clothing campaign for orphans during Ramadan.
Its last campaign in August was Educate a Child in Africa when boxes of stationary were sent to orphans in Zanzibar.
