AJMAN// A programme to train secondary school students in all aspects of hotel operations has been launched by the Ajman Tourist Development Department as part of its Emiratisation efforts.
So far eight students have taken part in the month-long, first phase of the programme held in cooperation with Ajman Palace Hotel.
“The programme aims to encourage UAE nationals to work in the tourism sector in order to increase the percentage of Emirati employees in the various tourism facilities; a target which goes in line with Ajman Vision 2021 and ATDD’s strategic plan,” said Asmaa Al Beloushi, head at ATDD Training Section.
The second phase, due to begin in April, will include 20 female students. ATDD intends to develop the programme to include more UAE nationals who would like to obtain a tourist guide license in Ajman, said Al Beloushi.
