Ajman Police chief on tour of stations

In an effort to follow up on the quality of performance throughout police stations in Ajman, Brigadier Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, acting commander-in-chief of Ajman Police, conducted an inspection tour of the department and Mushrif police station.

He was presented with a statistical overview showing a 35 per cent decrease in criminal reports received by the emirate’s police stations from 4,998 reports in the first half of 2013 to 3,262 reports in the same period of 2014.

The statistics also revealed a 24 per cent decrease in the number of reports involving thefts from 503 during the first quarter of 2013 to 383 during the same period this year.

The biggest share, 119, involved car theft followed by 80 reports involving shop robberies, 63 on residential burglaries, 37 related to robberies that took place on highways and 11 reports on impersonation of security officers.

According to the statistics, 1,376 out of 1,607 suspects were arrested during the first half of 2014, or 86 per cent of total suspects compared to 67 per cent last year.

The police were also able to uncover 98 per cent of crimes committed in the first half of 2014 compared to 66 per cent in 2013.
