DUBAI // A passenger service employee at Dubai International Airport has confessed to stealing Dh4,745 from a traveller’s wallet.

BD, 25, from Nepal, took the money when the traveller put down his wallet to go through the metal detector and the traveller did not realise the cash was missing until he had left the airport.

Police arrested the airport employee after reviewing the surveillance camera footage.

Prosecutors said that when the man was arrested the money was found stashed in his right shoe. There was a further Dh270 in his left shoes, but he insisted that this was his.

At the Criminal Court he admitted a charge of theft. A verdict is expected on November 27.
