DUBAI // The Dubai Criminal Court has sentenced an African woman to 10 years in jail and fined her Dh50,000 for smuggling 619g of cocaine.
The 40-year-old visitor was arrested at Dubai International Airport last May on her way from Argentina to South Africa.
In the course of the investigation, she confessed to her crime under Federal Law 14/1995 on the Counter Measures against Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic substances.
She will be deported following the completion of the jail term.
In another case, the court sentenced a man to four years in jail and deportation for substance abuse.
