The Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) has spent Dh2 million to provide equipment for children with special needs, including 1,125 hearing and speech-impairment aids, as well as those for visual impairment, physical disability and learning disabilities.

Adec's technical committee visited schools across the emirate to identify student needs before buying the equipment.

Two speech therapy units equipped with modern devices for diagnosis and treatment were also opened at Baniyas School and Mubarak bin Mohammed School.
