ABU DHABI // Youngsters can experience a journey into space at science workshops and exhibits in Mushrif Central Park this month.
The Live Science programme includes Boeing’s Above and Beyond interactive science exhibition, where visitors can try out a simulation of a lift that travels to the edge of space.
They can also design and test a supersonic fighter jet in a virtual flying competition and learn about the history of manned flight, from the first powered aircraft to the future of space travel.
There will also be science workshops and shows presented by Lema?, the education programme created by the Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee to engage children in science, technology, engineering and maths.
Live Science will provide children with “interactive, knowledgeable, fun-loving, yet challenging activities”, said Dr Mugheer Al Khaili, acting director general of Abu Dhabi Education Council, which has organised the event in cooperation with Mubadala Development Company.
“Providing students with such interactive educational experiences is part of Abu Dhabi’s plan to prepare students for tomorrow’s knowledge-based economy,” he said.
Entrance and access to Live Science, including both Above and Beyond and Lema? workshops is free. Registration for the Lema? workshops will be available onsite and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Live Science runs until March 5 and is open to the public from 4pm to 8pm from Sunday to Thursday, and 4pm to 9pm on Friday and Saturday. Entrance to Mushrif Central Park is Dh5 for ages four and above.
