Abu Dhabi to have new luxury beach club

Residents and visitors of Abu Dhabi will soon be able to enjoy a new high-end beach club, planned on the capital's Corniche.

ABU DHABI // Residents and visitors of Abu Dhabi will soon be able to visit a new high-end beach club, planned for the capital's Corniche.

The beach club will include amenities for the public as well as members. Non-beach hotels will be able to offer membership to their guests.

Abu Dhabi Municipality yesterday announced it would soon launch a tender for private sector bidders to develop and operate the beach club.

The beach club is part of Abu Dhabi's phase two Corniche expansions and will be located at The Lagoons Beach near West Plaza. Existing facilities will be upgraded and will include high-end food and beverage outlets.

Members will have access to the beach, outdoor pools, a health club and a deck area. A relaxation zone, water sports facilities and a children's play area will also be available.

"The project is designed to increase the range of quality public services and amenities available to both residents and visitors," said Rashed bin Ali Al Omaira, the municipality's advisor for investments and assets for the general manager's office.

"It presents an exciting infrastructure opportunity for the private sector and will continue to enhance the Corniche, which is already a popular visitor attraction."

According to the municipality's research, many of the city's four and five star hotels have no private beach facilities.

"So the beach club will also present an opportunity to cater to guests through membership," he said.

Through these projects, the municipality aims to enhance community service facilities and support the capital's hotels by providing their guests with more options.
