The Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority rejected 95 tonnes of imported foodstuffs that were found to be unfit for human consumption during the second quarter of the year.
The items were returned to their source. The reasons for rejection included non-compliance with food label requirements, violation of transport requirements, lack of import licence, bad storage, expired goods and non-compliance with UAE standards.
ADFCA said 257 tonnes of foodstuffs were imported to Abu Dhabi during the second quarter of the year.
They included dairy products (84.5 tonnes), vegetables and vegetable products (59 tonnes), water, juices, drinks, tea, coffee (32 tonnes), fats, oils and emulsified fats (22 tonnes) and fruits and fruit jams (12.5 tonnes).
