Abu Dhabi court orders Dh40,000 fine for mall punch

An Abu Dhabi court has ordered an Arab man who was convicted of physically assaulting another man at a mall to pay a Dh40,000 fine.

The victim said he was at the mall with his wife when the defendant approached the man’s wife and told her he knew her phone number and that her husband is an engineer.

The wife told her husband who immediately found the man to figure out why he was stalking the couple, and called the police.

The defendant attempted to run and when the victim ran after him to stop him, the defendant punched him in the nose, knocking him out. The victim broke his arm when he fell to the ground.

The forensic report showed that the victim’s injuries caused 40 per cent disability in the arm and 8 per cent deviation in the septum.
