DUBAI// A maid who absconded from her sponsor in Fujairah one year after she arrived in the country and worked as a prostitute at a brothel in Dubai has been jailed for three months.
Indonesian E J was found guilty of selling her body in October last year and before that date.
During investigations, the 28-year-old said she came to Dubai in 2014 to work as a maid for a family in Fujairah but ran away after a year and joined a brothel run by an Indonesian woman in Dubai.
Records did not show if E J is facing a separate charge of absconding. It also lacked information about the woman who ran the brothel.
E J denied a charge of working in prostitution but she was convicted. She will be deported after serving her prison term.
