Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has launched a YouTube channel, the first to be hosted by a leader in the Arab World.
The channel underlines Sheikh Mohammed's "growing interest in adapting modern technologies to consolidate direct interaction with society", according to a statement from Dubai Government Media Office.
The channel will feature Sheikh Mohammed's official and personal news, activities and initiatives.
It will also contain exclusive video material never before shown, said officials. Ceremonies and national celebrations across the UAE will also be broadcast live.
Viewers will also get a chance to post videos they have recorded during events attended by Sheikh Mohammed, by emailing them to mbrvideos@gmail.com.
Last month, Sheikh Mohammed was listed one of the 100 most influential Arabs on Twitter. He has tweeted as HHShkMohd since June 2009 and has more than 680,000 followers, recently keeping them updated on the birth of his son and posting photos of himself donating blood.
Five other UAE-based Twitter users, including Sheikh Abdullah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, were also recognised in the report published on Wamda, a website for entrepreneurs.
