There is a possibility of more showers on Wednesday after heavy rain fell on parts of Abu Dhabi overnight.

Dark skies hung over the capital after sunrise, following rain over the corniche, in Al Bateen, Ghantoot and Saadiyat Island late in the evening and in the early morning.

Police warned drivers to take care on the roads and pay attention to speed limits, which are reduced during bad weather.

Forecasters at the National Centre of Meteorology issued a rain alert and said there could be further unsettled weather ahead.

Rain could fall over some island, northern and western areas, said the forecasters. The skies will be cloudy at times.

Temperatures will fall slightly, reaching highs of 32°C in Abu Dhabi and 31°C in Dubai.

Light to moderate winds will become gusty, kicking up dust and sand.

It will be humid overnight and into Thursday over some coastal and internal areas.
