Ship erupts into flames in Umm Al Quwain harbour

Firefighters tackled a major blaze on a vessel in Umm Al Quwain's harbour on Monday.

The blaze sent smoke billowing across the port in Al Rafa area of the emirate just after midday.

Images from Umm Al Quwain Civil Defence showed the docked ship appeared to be badly damaged. It appeared to be a large fishing vessel or small goods freighter.

Crews from Umm Al Quwain and nearby Ras Al Khaimah were involved in the response.

Officials said no injuries were reported at this stage.
