UAE records 1,513 new Covid-19 cases and four deaths

The UAE reported 1,513 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday as the number of infections fell for the eleventh day in a row.

The latest caseload brought the total number of infections recorded since the pandemic began to 644,114.

Four people died, raising the overall death toll to 1,847.

Officials said another 1,489 patients beat the virus, taking the total number of recoveries to 622,301.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention said it carried out 287,544 Covid-19 tests in the past 24 hours

The authorities are using widespread testing, strict safety rules and one of the world's fastest vaccination programmes to curb the pandemic.

More than 64 per cent of the UAE population is now fully vaccinated. At least 75.5 per cent of the population has received their first dose.
