Almost 1.7 million medical fitness tests for visa applicants were carried out by the Dubai Health Authority last year.
Dr Ahmad Bin Kalban, chief executive of hospital services sector at the DHA, said 1,698,140 tests were conducted, of which 828,898 were for issuance of new visas and 869,242 tests were for renewal of visas.
The DHA has 16 medical fitness centres located across different parts of the emirate. Mr Bin Kalban said that the authority was planning to increase the number of premises.
