DUBAI // A salesman who used his mobile phone to film up a woman’s skirt in a mall was jailed yesterday for three months.

Surveillance cameras caught A F, a 26-year-old Indian, placing his phone under the victim’s skirt at Mall of the Emirates on June 8 last year.

Dubai Criminal Court convicted him of sexual assault following his confession last December.

American T H, the assistant head of security at Carrefour supermarket in the mall, said he saw A F approaching the woman as she was buying shoes and placing his phone between her legs.

“He stood behind her and managed to record from under her skirt,” T H said. “He repeated that several times, after which I left the security room [to confront him].”

T H detained A F and showed him the surveillance footage.

“He started apologising. He pleaded that I should not call the police. But I informed the police,” said T H.

Police officer A  A said he went to the mall after receiving the report.
