Visit Maldives has teamed up with the country’s ministry of tourism to launch the "I'm Vaccinated" campaign.
The new messaging is designed to highlight the initiatives undertaken by the archipelago in ensuring that it remains one of the safest destinations in the world for travellers.
The aim is for the Maldives to have the first fully vaccinated tourism workforce. This, along with the archipelago's topography, which naturally lends itself to social distancing, and stringent safety measures but in place by authorities, will ensure that travellers can feel completely secure when visiting.
At an event to unveil the campaign, Abdulla Mausoom, Minister of Tourism for the Maldives, commented on the impact that Covid-19 has had on the country's tourism industry, and highlighted the sacrifices and efforts made by those working in the tourism and health industries.
At present, 65 per cent of the those eligible in the Maldives have been vaccinated, while 90 per cent of those eligible in the tourism industry have received their doses, as the country focuses on achieving herd immunity.
All members of the tourism industry who have received their vaccine will wear a dedicated I'm Vaccinated badge.
Also part of the campaign is a microsite that will show how many members of the tourism industry have received their prescribed doses, as well as information for those in the industry looking to get vaccinated, and all the latest health guidelines.
The Maldives government aims to provide free Covid-19 vaccines to all citizens and residents in the coming months. The destination has also announced plans to offer the Covid-19 vaccine to tourists, once all nationals and residents have been fully vaccinated. Mausoom has touted a new 3V plan, which stands for Visit, Vaccinate, Vacation, as an incentive to visit the South Asian archipelago. It would be the first country to offer vaccine packages to visitors.
At present, the Maldives is accepting visitors with a negative PCR test taken less than three days before travel, or those who are fully vaccinated, with no quarantine requirements.

Nutritional yeast
This is Firth's pick and an ingredient he says, "gives you an instant cheesy flavour". He advises making your own cream cheese with it or simply using it to whip up a mac and cheese or wholesome lasagne. It's available in organic and specialist grocery stores across the UAE.
Seeds
"We've got a big jar of mixed seeds in our kitchen," Theasby explains. "That's what you use to make a bolognese or pie or salad: just grab a handful of seeds and sprinkle them over the top. It's a really good way to make sure you're getting your omegas."
Umami flavours
"I could say soya sauce, but I'll say all umami-makers and have them in the same batch," says Firth. He suggests having items such as Marmite, balsamic vinegar and other general, dark, umami-tasting products in your cupboard "to make your bolognese a little bit more 'umptious'".
Onions and garlic
"If you've got them, you can cook basically anything from that base," says Theasby. "These ingredients are so prevalent in every world cuisine and if you've got them in your cupboard, then you know you've got the foundation of a really nice meal."
Your grain of choice
Whether rice, quinoa, pasta or buckwheat, Firth advises always having a stock of your favourite grains in the cupboard. "That you, you have an instant meal and all you have to do is just chuck a bit of veg in."
