The World T20 cricket championships began on Tuesday, March 8, with the preliminary Group A and B matchups. Super 10 play begins Tuesday, March 15.
The National’s Paul Radley and Osman Samiuddin break down the Super 10 clubs, with who they think will be the most important names to watch. They also predict where each squad will finish.
Group 1
• Afghanistan: Eased through Group A to advance
• England: Much depends on Eoin Morgan's form
• South Africa: Plenty of reason for optimism
• Sri Lanka: Defending champions might have trouble repeating
• West Indies: Lendl Simmons injury could be costly
Group 2
• Australia: Losers of their last five, T20 not their forte
• Bangladesh: Rising club looks to continue momentum
• India: Hosts are also the tournament favourites
• New Zealand: No Brendon McCullum, but still a team to be feared
• Pakistan: One-time heavyweights in the format, but have fallen alarmingly behind
