The UAE Football Association has suspended Al Nasr’s Wanderley for 10 matches after he was found guilty of registering as an Asian player under a false Indonesian passport.
Brazilian forward Wanderley was re-instated by Nasr during the mid-season transfer window featured in their last two Arabian Gulf League games during the 2-2 draw against Al Dhafra and the 2-1 defeat to Al Ahli last week.
Nasr had earlier been fined US$50,000 (Dh183,600) and given a suspended one-year ban from competing in the Asian Champions League after an investigation by the Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) Disciplinary Committee.
Wanderley scored twice for them in the 3-0 win over El Jaish of Qatar in August but that game was forfeited after the AFC found the Brazilian was playing under a false passport.
El Jaish went on to win the tie 4-0 on aggregate before being knocked out by Al Ain in the semi-finals.
Nasr were also ordered to return all the prize money from their run to the last eight this season, which amounted to $340,000.
Wanderley was given a $10,000 fine and a three-month suspension, which was backdated to begin on September 2.
