This week's talented showcase of students include a cricketer from the Dubai American School, the best boy and girl footballers from British School Al Khubairat and a DPS Dubai swimmer who won all five events the UAE Gala Swimming Championship.

Aditya Mavuru

Mavuru, a Grade 10 pupil at the Dubai American Academy, has received plenty of attention after taking part in a successful tour of England with the Young Talents Cricket Academy in July. He made 476 runs in 10 matches and took 12 wickets as the team returned unbeaten. Mavuru's top score was an unbeaten 138.

Georgia Roberts

Roberts is the best girls footballer at the British School Al Khubairat, according to her teachers. The 16 year old, who wears the captain's armband, is delighted to see more girls' teams in the UAE, which means better competition. She led her team to victory in last week's Al Jazira Schools Football Tournament in Abu Dhabi.

Tom Drissi

Drissi, 15, is the British School Al Khubairat's top boys' footballer. He captained his team to success in the Al Jazira Schools Tournament. His teachers believe he has enough talent to have a chance to make football his career. "It would be a dream for me to make it as a professional player," he said.

Soumya Walia

Walia, a Grade 10 pupil of DPS Dubai, won all her five events at the CBSE cluster UAE Swimming Gala Championship to take the individual honours in the Under 16 girls' category. She will travel to India next month to take part in the CBSE National Swimming Championship.
