UAE striker Ali Mabkhout has been officially recognised by the Guinness World Records for the fastest ever goal scored in the AFC Asian Cup when he struck after 14 seconds against Bahrain.
The Al Jazira forward, who ended the tournament as top-scorer with five goals, latched onto a clipped cross by midfielder Omar Abdulrahman before taking a touch to take the ball away from the goalkeeper and slot home.
The UAE went on to win the match 2-1 before eventually reaching the semi-finals where they were defeated by hosts — and eventual champions — Australia.
