Al Nasr left it late on Friday night to give manager Dan Petrescu his second success in as many games in the Arabian Gulf League.

Nasr were impressive in a 4-0 drubbing of Dibba under their new manager last week but they relied on two late strikes from Jassim Yaqoob and Ahmed Khamis to return 3-1 winners from Sharjah.

Mohanad Karrar, the Iraq international, put Nasr ahead but that lead was cancelled out by Saif Rashid.

Yaqoob regained the lead on 83 minutes before an added time strike from Khamis completed the victory.

Petrescu took over at Nasr following the dismissal of Ivan Ivanovic three weeks ago following four successive defeats under the Serbian. Elsewhere, Baniyas slumped to their third defeat under new manager Jose Gomes.

They went down 4-0 to Al Wasl at the Zabeel stadium to remain rooted to the bottom on one point from seven games.

Caio Canedo opened the scoring and Fabio de Lima made it 2-0 on the stroke of half time.

The latter added a second approaching the hour before Canedo completed the rout.

In the early games on Friday, Al Shabab were held to a 0-0 draw by Dibba and Al Dhafra got the better of Emirates 2-1.

Khaled Shamarikh put the ball into his own net to give Dhafra the lead after 55 minutes.

Sebastian Sacha equalised before Makhete Diop struck the winner for the home side on 69 minutes.

Emirates ended with 10 players after Abdulla Ali was sent off during added time.
