The National's Sport cover for the Tuesday, June 23 issue, featuring Azzam as Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing completed the 2014/15 Volvo Ocean Race on Monday as champions.
After nine months and 38,739 nautical miles, Azzam pulled into port in Gothenburg, Sweden to complete the ninth and final leg. They had already sealed offshore sailing's most prestigious title at the conclusion of the previous leg.
Osman Samiuddin details "the fulfillment of a huge dream":
“Even for a double Olympic silver medallist, Ian Walker said it was an achievement that needed time to sink in and one he would not compare to his other triumphs.
“It’s tough, but this is special, to win with a group of people, with a country behind us,” he said. “It’s a big, big day.”
