Arsenal
Arsene Wenger faces the possibility of further disciplinary action from Uefa for breaching the terms of his touchline ban on Tuesday. The Arsenal manager was confined to the stands and banned from communicating with the dugout during their Champions League qualifying-round, first-leg victory against Udinese after making critical comments about the referee after being eliminated by Barcelona last season. Arsenal believed that Wenger could pass on instructions to Pat Rice, his assistant, through Boro Primorac, the coach, who sat alongside the manager in the stands. Uefa warned Wenger at half time that such contact was not allowed, although Primorac appeared to continue making phone calls during the second half. Meanwhile, Alex Song, the Arsenal midfielder, will serve a three-match suspension for a stamp on Newcastle United's Joey Barton on Saturday.
Fulham
Carlos Salcido, the Fulham full-back, has joined the Mexican side Tigres on a season-long loan deal. The 31 year old joined the London club last summer from PSV Eindhoven and impressed during his first season in the Premier League. However, Salcido grew unsettled at the west London club after a robbery at his house resulted in his family leaving England.
FA Cup
Non-league sides Ascot United and Wembley FC will kick off this season's FA Cup tomorrow, with the game being streamed to a potential audience of 700 million people. Social networking site Facebook are "televising" the clash, which, although it will not reach the majority of its potential viewers, is the first of its kind anywhere in sport. A 90-minute stream will be provided by Budweiser, the competition's new sponsors.
Blackburn Rovers
Raul, the Spanish striker, has been left out of the Schalke 04 team to play HJK Helsinki tonight in their Europa League qualifier, strengthening speculation about the veteran's future at the club. Schalke received an official offer for the former Real Madrid forward from Blackburn Rovers on Monday which they rejected on Tuesday after a conversation with Raul's agent. According to the Schalke website, Raul has been left out to protect the 34-year-old from playing on the artificial pitch in Helsinki.
Chelsea
Contact has been made with the kidnappers of John Obi Mikel's father. The alarm was raised when Michael Obi, who runs a transport company, failed to return home from work in Jos, the capital of Plateau State in central Nigeria, on Friday. The Chelsea midfielder's brother, Ebele Obi, said in quotes reported on www.supersport.com: "We have heard our father's voice. At least we now know that he is alive."
West Bromwich Albion
Peter Odemwingie, the West Brom striker, has denied he was trying to engineer his departure from the club and urged fans to be patient during continuing contract negotiations. Odemwingie's failure to put pen to paper on a new deal has led to speculation that the 30-year-old Nigerian international may be holding out for a better offer from elsewhere. However, Odemwingie wrote on Twitter: "To my dear WBA supporters. I love this club and will leave only to a TOP team which is understandable. Nothing abnormal is going on," he wrote. "Contract is not signed cos of the duration of it. Figures agreed long time ago cos I know this is not Real Madrid. Please be patient."
