Marketa Vondrousova could later today become the first teenager in 14 years to win a first career grand slam title.

Vondrousova defeated Johanna Konta to reach the final of the French Open and set up a showdown with Ashleigh Barty of Australia. The 19-year-old Czech player, competing in only her ninth major event, came from breaks down in both sets as she beat British No 26 seed Konta 7-5, 7-6 at Roland Garros.

The last player to win his/her first grand slam title while still a teenager was Rafael Nadal, also at the French Open, in 2005. The Spaniard has gone on to secure another 10 trophies in the men's singles draw at Roland Garros. He could return home with a 12th on Sunday after he beat Roger Federer in the semi-finals.
