Premier League sides Aston Villa and Swansea City are considering bidding for Sevilla full-back Mouhamadou Dabo.

The Senegal-born defender, 24, is comfortable on either the right or left side of defence and is a former France Under 21 international.

Dabo joined Sevilla on a free transfer from the French club Saint-Etienne last summer. Despite a successful first season in the Primera Liga, the Spanish side have indicated that they would accept an offer of €2.5 million (Dh13.4m) for the player to raise transfer funds.

Villa mainly employed Luke Young, the former England defender, and Kyle Walker at right-back last season. Though Walker impressed in the second half of their campaign the 21-year-old loan signing has since returned to Tottenham Hotspur, where he is expected to challenge Vedran Corluka for a starting spot.

Swansea, the first Welsh club to reach the Premier League following their promotion via the Championship play-offs last month, have 15 players with expiring contracts.

They have had a club-record £3.5m offer accepted for Danny Graham, the Watford striker, and intend to spend more of their promotion windfall.

Jez Moxey , the Wolverhampton Wanderers chief executive, is optimistic Tottenham midfielder Jamie O'Hara will make the permanent switch to Molineux in a £5m deal.
