The Manchester City forward may have been injured in recent weeks but he has been impressed with what he has seen of new teammates Kevin de Bruyne and Nicolas Otamendi
Out of action
Aguero has been sidelined for City since suffering a hamstring injury during Argentina’s 2018 World Cup qualifying match against Ecuador last month. His City teammates have maintained their title push in his absence, however, as they top the Premier League table on goal difference from Arsenal.
De Bruyne
Aguero, 27, has had to watch from the sidelines, but is impressed with the form of attacking midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, who was signed from Wolfsburg in the summer for a club record fee of £54 million (Dh301.4m). “I’m really happy because I think the club did a great piece of business bringing Kevin in and you are always happy when a quality player arrives and he is certainly that,” Aguero told his club’s website.
Encouraging
“The few chances I’ve had to play alongside him have been encouraging because we started to get an understanding of how each other plays,” Aguero added. “As I say, he is a great player and it’s really important he settles in and shows us what he can do, and he’s also a great lad off the field as well, so I’m looking forward to playing alongside him again.”
Help
Even though he had a slow start to his career at City, failing to convince in his early games, Aguero is confident defender Nicolas Otamendi is also a good acquisition for the club, following his £32m move from Valencia in the summer. “Nico is a good player who will help our team, and the more Argentinians the better as far as I’m concerned,” Aguero said.
Stronger
With City bidding to win the Premier League for a third time in five years, and are still in the League Cup and the Uefa Champions League, and with the FA Cup still to come, Aguero said it was important to have strength in depth. “We need a big squad because we’ve got lots of games and many competitions we’re trying to win and all the players we’ve brought in over the summer have made us stronger,” he said.
