BEIJING // David Kostelecky of the Czech Republic and the Italian Giovanni Pellielo shared the lead in day one of the men's trap qualifications after hitting 73 targets, while Sheikh Ahmed finished with a score of 69. Pellielo won the silver medal in 2004 and bronze in 2000. One behind the leaders were five shooters, including the two-time gold medallist Michael Diamond of Australia and the Russian Alexey Alipov. The UAE's sole Olympic medallist Sheikh Ahmed bin Hasher, who won gold in Athens four years ago in the double trap event, finished four shots behind on 69. The American Bret Erickson, who is competing in his fourth Olympics, was far down the list after hitting 65 targets. The last two qualification rounds and the finals will be held tomorrow.
