PSA Dubai World Series Finals 2017 to be held at Dubai Opera as tickets go on sale

Dubai Opera will host the 2017 PSA Dubai World Series Finals in June, the first time a sports event will be held inside the venue.

Taking place June 6-10, the World Series Finals will welcome the world’s top eight male and female squash players according to the PSA Road to Dubai standings.

Much like the European Tour’s Race to Dubai in golf that culminates with a season-ending tournament in the emirate, squash’s equivalent will see players earn points at nine PSA World Series tournaments around the world before the finale in Dubai.

“The PSA Dubai World Series Finals is one of the biggest tournaments on the squash calendar and, after an impressive debut in Dubai last year, the 2017 event at the Dubai Opera looks set to raise the bar even higher,” PSA Chairman Ziad Al Turki said.

“We are honoured to be the first sporting event taking place inside the newly built Opera and it is a privilege for our players to have the distinction and opportunity to play in such an iconic arena.

Tickets went on sale for the World Series Finals on Wednesday and can be purchased directly from www.dubaiopera.com or from the Dubai Opera Box Office.

Dubai Opera opened in August 2016 and is a 2000-seat multi-format venue which has hosted world famous shows, including Broadway musical West Side Story, performances from the Russian State Ballet, and concerts by Italian singer Andrea Bocelli.

But the World Series Finals will be the first time a sports event is staged inside the arena.

“Squash is one of the most exciting and enjoyable participant and spectator sports in the world and the intimate atmosphere of Dubai Opera is the perfect location for a live audience to be able to enjoy the World Series Finals,” Jasper Hope, Chief Executive of Dubai Opera said.

“Dubai Opera’s stage has already played host to some of the greatest artists and productions from around the world and for our first ever sporting event we are very excited to be able to welcome the world’s squash elite for the culmination of their season.”
