Mark Noble's brace helped West Ham continue their fine start to life back in the top flight with a fourth win of the season. Sam Allardyce's men came flying out of the blocks after the break and netted twice through Noble and Kevin Nolan. Southampton threatened a comeback when Adam Lallana scored, but Noble added a penalty before substitute Modibo Maiga scored.

Fulham Baird 84' Fulham midfielder Chris Baird upstaged his returning teammate Dimitar Berbatov with the late winner as Fulham condemned Aston Villa to more away day misery. Baird got a deft touch to John Arne Riise's near-post corner to beat goalkeeper Brad Guzan and deny Villa a point. Villa, who have not won on the road in 13 Premier League matches, had a chance to rescue a point but Christian Benteke missed a sitter from close range.
Swansea City 2 Wigan Athletic 1
Swansea ended a run of five league games without a win as two goals in three second-half minutes saw them past Wigan. Record signing Pablo Hernandez grabbed his first goal for the club in the 65th minute and Michu's sixth of the campaign doubled the advantage. Emmerson Boyce pulled one back for Wigan, but Arouna Kone had an equaliser ruled out for offside as their own winless run extended to six games.

Norwich Holt 19' Norwich recorded a deserved first Premier League win under manager Chris Hughton. Arsenal, who included England midfielder Jack Wilshere in the squad after more than a year out with injury, were second best all afternoon as Grant Holt's scrambled effort on 20 minutes following a mistake by goalkeeper Vito Mannone proved enough for all three points to move the hosts out of the relegation zone.
