Nico Rosberg was frustrated with the stop-go penalty that denied him a maiden Formula One victory in Singapore. The Williams driver, who finished the race second, was forced to pit due to low fuel when the pitlane was closed after Nelson Piquet's Renault had crashed on lap 14. The German led the field when the race restarted, but was given a 10-second stop-go penalty by the stewards as current FIA regulations prohibit cars from pitting until the pitlane has been officially reopened when there is a safety car out.
When I had to come in, I saw the safety car out," Rosberg said."The crew said 'come in this lap'. Every single time it is exactly the same thing (with the safety car rules). I was really annoyed as I thought that was it, the end of it." He dropped behind the race winner Fernando Alonso after the penalty, but his strong pace before pitting ensured he earned his best finish. He added: "I saw I was able to pull a gap afterwards even after the stop.
