Moussa Narry to become first foreign recruit for Sharjah this season

An official announcement on the Ghana midfielder's future will be made this week following results of the medical.

The Ghana international Moussa Narry is set to be unveiled as Sharjah's first new foreign signing of the season after completing his medical at the club.

Narry, who was born in Niger, arrived in Sharjah on Monday from the French club Le Mans for final negotiations and a medical, and a club spokesman confirmed Sharjah will be making an official announcement in a day or two.

The 26-year-old midfielder also met the Sharjah players at their final training session before the team's departure yesterday for a pre-season training camp in Tunisia. Narry, who has worked with the Sharjah coach Faouzi Benzarti when they were at the Tunisian club Etoile du Sahel, will join the team after completing the formalities.

Sharjah are preparing for September's four-team Pro League play-offs, which give them a chance of returning to the top division after finishing at the bottom of the points table last season.

The club have released 15 players from last season, but have retained the services of the Brazilians Marcelinho and Edinho.

They have also brought in four Al Ahli players on loan for the season as part of an exchange deal for Abdulaziz Sanqoor. The four – Mohammed Yousuf, Badr Abdulrehman, Obaid Khalifa and Salmeen Khamis - have left with the team for Tunisia, although the deal has not been formalised after the refusal of two other players, Ahmed Khamis and Ali Hussein, to go to Sharjah.

Ahli, meanwhile, seem to be closing in on a permanent deal with the Saudi Arabia club Al Hilal for Achille Emana.

The Cameroonian midfielder, who came to the Dubai club on a six-month loan deal in January, played a big part in Ahli's resurgence in the second half of last season and Quique Sanchez Flores, the coach, is keen to keep him.

According to club sources, Hilal have agreed to part with the player for €4 million (Dh17.8m) and the deal should be formally announced in the coming days.
