Aaron Lennon kept Tottenham's 100 per-cent record intact with the winner deep into injury time against Birmingham at White Hart Lane. Lee Bowyer had cancelled out a Peter Crouch header on 76 minutes when he tapped into an empty net after a frenetic goalmouth scramble. Crouch, a 49th-minute substitute for the injured Luka Modric, should have had a hat-trick inside six minutes of coming on, forcing two saves and hitting the woodwork early in the second half. However he continued to be a handful for the visitors and headed home to hand Spurs a deserved lead on 72 minutes.
But Birmingham hit back almost straight away when Spurs failed to clear a ball pinging around in the area and Bowyer sidefooted home. It looked like Alex McLeish's men had earned a point, but Lennon cut in from the edge of the box to rifle a shot past Joe Hart five minutes into injury-time. Dave Kitson was probably the biggest flop of the 2008/09 season. After signing for Stoke for £5.5 million (Dh33m) from Reading, the left-footed striker failed to score a single goal in 18 games and was loaned back to his former club in January. However this season his luck appears to have changed. After scoring his first goal for the club midweek in the Carling Cup victory against Leyton Orient, he grabbed the winner against Sunderland just before half-time, his first league goal for Stoke. Kitson found the net in the 43rd minute following a goalmouth scramble. The visitors failed to clear a corner from Liam Lawrence and Kitson was on hand to take advantage. Lawrence almost added a second for the home side in the 48th minute but Phil Bardsley cleared his effort off the line. Sunderland found it difficult to cope with the set-pieces that the home side have become renowned for and Tony Pulis' team deserved the three points. Man of the match: Ryan Shawcross (Stoke)
Blackburn teenager Junior Hoilett spurned the best chance of a fairly tedious goalless draw against West Ham at Ewood Park. The 19-year-old substitute's 20-yard chip over Robert Green in a one-on-one with the goalkeeper dropped onto the top of the net in the 77th minute. Prior to that Carlton Cole had the visitors' best effort, curling wide a 20th-minute shot from a narrow angle while Rovers defender Christopher Samba fired over from the edge of the penalty area in the first half. Hoilett's 30-minute cameo was one of the few positives on a frustrating afternoon for Blackburn. The other was securing their first point of the season - after defeats to Manchester City and Sunderland - which meant they avoided equalling their worst start to a season since 1947/48. West Ham were not much better, with Cole - starved of service and support - having little chance of showing the form of an England international. Man of the match: Christopher Samba (Blackburn)
Record signing Kevin Doyle was denied a late winner which would have capped an impressive full Premier League debut for Wolves against Hull at Molineux.
The former Reading striker saw his close-range shot somehow blocked on the line by Hull captain Michael Turner.
Geovanni had given Hull a third-minute lead. Stephen Hunt was the creator with some trickery on the left before he cut into the Wolves area and past the challenge of Greg Halford. His cross picked out the unmarked Brazilian, who had the simplest of tasks to head home from close range. But Wolves grabbed a deserved point through defender Richard Stearman 44 seconds into the second half. Michael Mancienne floated a free-kick from inside the centre circle into the Hull area, Jody Craddock flicked the ball on and Stearman timed his run perfectly to half-volley the ball past Boaz Myhill from close range.
