ABU DHABI // The trainer Eric Lemartinel is set for another rich harvest in the third meeting at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club where he saddled a treble last week.
The Frenchman is well represented with runners in five of the six races, led by the 2007 UAE Arabian Derby winner Shadiyda, who is being sent on the same path as his stable partner Mizzna, the winner of last year's National Day Cup and the Kahayla Classic.
"Like Mizzna has the National Day Cup and the Kahayla Classic as her primary goals, Shadiyda is similarly aimed at the President's Cup and the Emir's Cup in Doha," said Lemartinel. "This first outing will give us an idea of his well being. He is definitely a stronger horse than last season and Sunday's race should give us a clue."
Lemartinel has strong claims with Alama in the opener and Jaifa half hour later, both running for a second run in a fortnight.
"I feel all my entries have a chance to go on and win or finish on the board," said Lemartniel. "I have entered as many as I can because of the two-week break in Abu Dhabi's calendar. Alama and Jaifar will have benefits of an outing and Remal has always run well when fresh."
Alama will have most to fear from Anthony Manuel's AF Rakiza, who finished more than a length ahead over the course and distance a fortnight ago. Dhuha W'Rsan and Cashmere are the two others to respect.
Musabah al Muhairi's Jaxy King makes a quick return after running sixth behind Amoking at the Nad Al Sheba dirt on Thursday. If sound and ready for another run in three days, he should have the measure of Muntaliq and Jaifar on the turf.
Muhairi also saddles last year's UAE Arabian Derby runner-up Bareq half hour later, and the Bibi De Carrere colt will take a lot of beating in the tricky 0-50 handicap run over 1,600m.
A few seasoned campaigners like Sous Les Ordres, ridden by the Emirati jockey Ahmad Ajtebi, and Fakruddin Nizamuddin's pair Sharudy and CS Patriarch are set to run close.
Remal's chances must be respected in the handicap for fillies and mares. She gives weight all-round and will find Jaci Wickham's Dhulaima W'Rsan as the main danger. And Gillian Duffield's Bustan can improve from his first run in more than eight months in the concluding race.

Scoring In indoor cricket, runs are scored by way of both physical and bonus runs. Physical runs are scored by both batsmen completing a run from one crease to the other. Bonus runs are scored when the ball hits a net in different zones, but only when at least one physical run is score.

Commission caps
For life insurance products with a savings component, Peter Hodgins of Clyde & Co said different caps apply to the saving and protection elements:
• For the saving component, a cap of 4.5 per cent of the annualised premium per year (which may not exceed 90 per cent of the annualised premium over the policy term).
• On the protection component, there is a cap of 10 per cent of the annualised premium per year (which may not exceed 160 per cent of the annualised premium over the policy term).
• Indemnity commission, the amount of commission that can be advanced to a product salesperson, can be 50 per cent of the annualised premium for the first year or 50 per cent of the total commissions on the policy calculated.
• The remaining commission after deduction of the indemnity commission is paid equally over the premium payment term.
• For pure protection products, which only offer a life insurance component, the maximum commission will be 10 per cent of the annualised premium multiplied by the length of the policy in years.
Disclosure
Customers must now be provided with a full illustration of the product they are buying to ensure they understand the potential returns on savings products as well as the effects of any charges. There is also a “free-look” period of 30 days, where insurers must provide a full refund if the buyer wishes to cancel the policy.
“The illustration should provide for at least two scenarios to illustrate the performance of the product,” said Mr Hodgins. “All illustrations are required to be signed by the customer.”
Another illustration must outline surrender charges to ensure they understand the costs of exiting a fixed-term product early.
Illustrations must also be kept updatedand insurers must provide information on the top five investment funds available annually, including at least five years' performance data.
“This may be segregated based on the risk appetite of the customer (in which case, the top five funds for each segment must be provided),” said Mr Hodgins.
Product providers must also disclose the ratio of protection benefit to savings benefits. If a protection benefit ratio is less than 10 per cent "the product must carry a warning stating that it has limited or no protection benefit" Mr Hodgins added.
