With UAE and Canada chasing the unlikely dream of qualifying for the ICC World Cup in 2015, they were both bound to be just as competitive as the other. Canada, though, had the ideal start when they won the toss and sent the visitors to bat shortly before???

Swapnil also ran hard between the wickets, constantly leaving the opposition fielders a little unsettled. In the end, though, he perished, bowled out by Daesrath for an attractive 43. Chris Young / The National
Batting at No 5, Shaiman Anwar immediately went about rebuilding the UAE innings which after 30 overs had yielded 122 runs but with four wickets down. He was joined by Rohan Mustafa, the promising all-rounder, at the crease. Chris Young / The National

Mustafa, left, who himself scored an unbeaten 68 off just 61 deliveries, celebrated Shaiman's century with a nice hug at the end of the UAE innings. Their unbroken partnership had been worth 147 runs. Chris Young / The National
