Al Jazira have rubbished reports in Britain’s The Sun newspaper that they were close to appointing Harry Redknapp as manager.
“We don’t know from where they get such news, but there is absolutely no truth in it. We don’t want to talk anything more on this matter. It is best if ignored,” a club official said.
Jazira appointed Abel Braga in the summer, but the man who led them to a historic Arabian Gulf League and President’s Cup double in 2011 has not had the same success on his return.
Braga has come under pressure with his team struggling in 11th spot. They face bottom team Al Shaab on Saturday, and anything less than three points will pile more pressure on the Brazilian.
Redknapp is the former manager of West Ham United, Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League in England.
