Graeme Swann, after a five-year stretch with England in which he bowled more overs than anyone else in international cricket, announced his retirement from the longer forms of the game on Sunday.

England's most successful spin bowler did so despite two more Tests remaining on the Ashes Tour of Australia. With his Test career over, we look back at five of Swann's greatest moments.

1. Lord's, v Australia, 2009

After replacing Monty Panesar as England’s leading spinner, Swann stamped his authority on the Ashes at the home of cricket. He took four for 87 in the second innings of the second Test, including the key wicket of Michael Clarke for 136, to give England a 1-0 lead.

2. The Oval, v Australia, 2009

England needed a win to regain the Ashes with the score at 1-1. Stuart Broad took five for 37 in the first innings and Jonathan Trott scored 119 in the second, but Swann took eight wickets in the match, including four for 38 in the first innings, and scored 63 in the second.

3. South Africa tour, 2009/10

He took 21 wickets, including nine in the victory in the second Test in Durban, to prove he could be effective when conditions were not in his favour. He also scored a Test-best knock of 85 in the first match as the four-Test series finished 1-1.

4. Edgbaston, v Pakistan, 2010

Swann returned Test-best figures of six for 65 in the second innings of the second Test in Birmingham, including two of his most memorable wickets, with huge turning off-breaks to bowl Azhar Ali and Imran Farhat.

5. Adelaide, v Australia, 2010/11

The off-spinner helped pave the way for a memorable 3-1 Ashes series win down under with five second-innings wickets in the second Test. He returned five for 91 to put England 1-0 ahead in the series.
