Callum Shinkwin had a round to remember during the European Tour's Hero Open in Birmingham.

During day three of the tournament at the Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel & Country Club, Englishman Shinkwin's drive ended up at the base of a tree on the par-5 third hole.

He asked for a drop but was denied. He thus took the shot from behind the tree, snapping his iron right in the middle.

"I thought this was going to one way – it's going to go straight round it," he was quoted as saying by golf.com. "And there's picture evidence as well."

Despite the carnage, Shinkwin managed to par the hole and finish Saturday's round with an even-par 72.
