Golf’s world No 1 Rory McIlroy features on The National Sport front page on Friday, January 30 after the Omega Dubai Desert Classic swung into action on Thursday.

At the end of the first day’s play, Austrian Bernd Wiesberger held the lead following a stunning 8-under par 64, with the quartet of Nicoals Colsaerts, Andy Sullivan, Peter Uihlein and Lee Westwood sharing second one shot back.
